WORSHIP TOGETHER

Come and Celebrate Faith

The Caistor Centre Free Methodist Church worships together in many ways, including song and hymn, sermon, family connection time, communion, and offerings.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our Worship Service

Every Sunday morning starting at 10:30 am with Pastor Kim.

Worship Music

Worship is more than music. It’s really about our hearts and expressing our love for God and music is but one way we can do that. On a typical Sunday, we have piano and organ to accompany our singing, and we do hymns and more modern songs written by today’s Christian hymn and song writers.

Givings & Offering

Offerings are usually made by people who call this church their home, but they are open to all who wish to give. There is no obligation to give an offering, it is simply there for those who want to take part in it.

The offering is taken up during the church service, but if you would like to give your offering online, you are welcome to use our tithe.ly link.

Children’s Time

During most sermons, the kids head off to Jr Church! On the first Sunday of each month, however, we have ‘Family Sunday’ when the children and adults learn together.

SERMONS

Understanding God’s Teachings

Our sermons are given by Pastor Kim and take place in the church building for those who can attend. For those who can’t attend in person, the sermons are recorded on Zoom and added to our archive.

The sermons are usually 20-25 minutes in length - sometimes a little longer, sometimes a little shorter but in each, the goal is to help understand what God is teaching in a specific passage of Scripture. Using stories and illustrations, Pastor Kim explains in practical, everyday language what God is teaching and she uses humour quite often - it’s ok to laugh during a sermon!

Sermons are also interactive - so be prepared to get involved by responding to questions or raising your hand in response. PowerPoint is generally used and an outline of the sermon is provided for you to follow along and add your own notes to. The sermon outline also includes application questions for personal reflection or to answer in a small group discussion in the following week.

At the end of each sermon there is a time that Pastor Kim refers to as the ''So What'' section. She recaps what was learned so that the congregation understands how it directly applies to everyday life and what action steps may need to be taken to apply it.

Depending on the time of year, sermons and hymns will change to match the season. Whether it’s Christmas or Easter, the type of service we provide reflects the current season so folks not only feel in the spirit, but are reminded of the significance of that time of year, its history, and how we can celebrate God.

You can take a look at our sermon archive so that you don’t miss a beat!

COMMUNION

Come to the table

Jesus started the tradition of communion - also called The Lord's Supper or the Eucharist - when He instructed His followers to use bread and wine to remember the sacrifice He was going to make when He died for our sins on the cross. Wine represents His blood, while the significance of using bread is because He called himself “the bread of life,” because he nourishes life and satisfies us when everything else leaves us empty.

When you participate in communion, you have to consider what it means and why you are doing it. It is not meant to be a mindless ritual, but instead, time that you set aside to really think about Jesus, His sacrifice for us, and why he did it.

We celebrate communion once a month at our church. We serve bread (as well as a gluten-free option) and grape juice during the ceremony to remember and celebrate who Jesus is, what He did for us on the cross, and how He is active in our lives today.

If you have questions about communion, please get in touch with us and ask!
